What is Legionella?
Legionella is a bacteria commonly found in tiny droplets of water which care left behind after water has evaporated or in aerosols. Legionella can cause a lung infection called legionnaires' disease, which cause the same symptoms as pneumonia. It also can cause other potentially fatal diseases such as pontiac fever and lochgoilhead fever.
We assess all water systems in commercial or domestic properties to ensure you and the rest of the co-habitants in your property are kept protected from legionella and the diseases it causes. It is now a legal requirement that this test has to be carried out on all properties where water is stored or circulated, including:
- Rental properties
- Domestic properties
- Nursing homes
- Doctors Surgeries
When we complete your legionella test, you will receive official documentation including our findings in accordance with current health and safety regulations.
Do I require a legionella risk assessment in my Polegate property?
Before 2012, only commercial properties legally required a legionella bacteria test. But since 2012, it is mandatory that residential properties have one too. If there is an outbreak of legionella and you do not have an up to date assessment you may be prosecuted. For your safety and insurance purposes, it is vital that this unique test is carried out by a professional who is fully trained in compliance with health and safety regulations. The test itself can be carried out quickly and saves you from the risk of any legionnaires diseases.
